For the CADAF 2019, in New York, Breezy presented the artists of The Jade Project which created special digital works related to their personal exploration of the jades.

The Jade Project, curated by Filippo Salviati (Sapienza University, Rome) is an ongoing process of “interactive creation” that focuses on the intersecting and overlapping areas where science meets art. The project aims to create a space and time, either real and tangible or fully digital, intangible and cryptic, where the “invisible” qualities of archaic Chinese jades produced in the 3rd millennium B.C. become visible through the works of contemporary artists.

These fascinating and mysterious works of art from the distant past are generally presented in museums or exhibition spaces in ways which do not highlight or transmit the spirit and the special qualities so very appreciated in Chinese culture: texture, translucency, sound. The Jade Project thus represents the first instance in which ancient jade objects are dealt with through such an alive and innovative approach as this.

The essence of jade without the presence of jade: an experience that is only possible in the digital world.

For the Contemporary and Digital Art Fair — CADAF, New York 3-5 May 2019, in collaboration and presented by Breezy Art, the artists of The Jade Project which created special digital works related to their personal exploration of the jades.

Musician Ivan Macera created a unique sound-piece based on the acoustic qualities of the jades that he plays as an evocative instrument.

Visual artist Sara Bernabucci conceived three digital paintings based on her latest explorations of the textured surfaces of the jades and her recent experimentation with laser technologies applied to different types of materials, including thin gold foils.

Zhang Xihan is the author of a video that visually renders the enigmatic nature and aura of mystery of these ancient jades, filmed in an environment crossed by various directions of light and projections suggestively designed by Fabrizio Crisafulli. The music accompanying the video, composed by Ivan Macera using the digitally remastered sampled sounds of the jades, creates an atmosphere that evokes sensations of a mysterious and fascinating world.
