$Whale and Breezy started a long-term collaboration to provide a narrative to the $WHALE’s “The Vault”, one of the largest and most valuable collections of NFTs in the entire space through art curation. Each month we will highlight a specific creator or theme, through rich visuals, high-profile artist interviews, gallery events, and more. The focus is to foster an interactive experience complete with catalogs, newsletters, and other media to explore. The artist of the month of June is Coldie.
Summer begins under the sign of a great name in the world of crypto art: Coldie. For the month of June, The Vault collection unveils its masterpieces with a journey into the stereoscopic 3D space.
After having revealed his urgency to express his inner world through physical art as a child, in high school he attended a graphics course that, at the age of 17, led him closer to the production of video content, digital collages, and graphic design. A passion that has never abandoned him until it became a job, just out of college, when he was hired as a cover illustrator for L.A. Weekly in Los Angeles. Definitely, Coldie didn’t have much time to undertake his own research but this job exposes him to continuous stimuli that lead him to progressively move from graphics to art. Art that does not always see the light, because Coldie publishes only what he himself would like to possess. The rest remains an exercise closed in the drawer.
Each artist’s work has its own story, which tries to play in unison with the chords of the beholder’s soul. Finding the perfect match is not easy. The observer is not placed in front of a portrait or a work easy to read: after having captured attention, Coldie expects his audience to be willing to question themselves to investigate the deeper meaning of the story. His audience must be emotionally and physically ready:
“Keep a pair of red / cyan glasses in your wallet like I do, never know when you’ll need them”.
But the artist’s communicative determination goes so far as to study a way of using his 3D models in the absence of glasses, translated into animated GIFs that show themselves and let themselves be looked at, guiding the eye to the best vantage point.
This search for depth does not only take place in the space of his works but also develops on different levels of emotional awareness. It’s only in sharing and communicating with others that it finds its purest expression.
“Art is meant to provoke thought and emotion. No matter good or bad, the action of thinking is what I look for in a successful work “.
In the crypto art community, Coldie not only has found a new audience and new inner universes, but he also has created them for us.

$Whale e Breezy hanno iniziato una collaborazione a lungo termine per fornire una narrazione – attraverso la cura dell’arte – di”The Vault “by $WHALE , una delle più grandi e preziose collezioni di NFT dell’intero spazio. Ogni mese si metterà in evidenza un artista o un tema specifico, attraverso ricche immagini, interviste ad artisti di alto profilo, eventi in galleria e altro ancora. L’obiettivo è promuovere un’esperienza interattiva completa di cataloghi, newsletter e altri media da esplorare. L’artista del mese di Giugno è Coldie.
La stagione estiva inizia sotto il segno di un grande nome del mondo della cripto art: Coldie. Per il mese di giugno la collezione di The Vault svela i suoi 9 capolavori con un viaggio nello spazio stereoscopico 3D.
Dopo aver manifestato fin da bambino la sua urgenza di esprimere il proprio mondo interiore attraverso l’arte fisica, al liceo frequenta un corso di grafica che lo avvicina, a 17 anni, alla produzione di contenuti video, collage digitali e progettazione grafica. Una passione che da quel momento non lo ha mai abbandonato, diventando un lavoro quando, appena concluso il college, viene assunto come illustratore di copertine per il L.A. Weekly a Los Angeles. Certamente questo non lascia a Coldie molto spazio per intraprendere una propria ricerca, ma lo espone a stimoli continui che lo portano a spostarsi progressivamente dalla grafica all’arte. Un’arte che non sempre vede la luce, perché Coldie pubblica solo ciò che lui stesso vorrebbe possedere. Il resto rimane un esercizio chiuso nel cassetto.
Ogni opera dell’artista ha una sua storia, che cerca di suonare all’unisono con le corde dell’animo di chi la guarda. Trovare l’accordo perfetto non è facile. L’osservatore non è posto davanti ad un ritratto o ad un’opera di ovvia lettura: dopo aver catturato l’attenzione, Coldie si aspetta che il suo pubblico sia disposto a mettersi in discussione e scendere in profondità per indagare il significato più profondo della storia che gli viene presentata. Il suo pubblico deve essere emotivamente e fisicamente equipaggiato:
“Keep a pair of red/cyan glasses in your wallet like I do, never know when you’ll need them”.
Ma la determinazione comunicativa dell’artista si spinge fino a studiare una modalità di fruizione dei suoi modelli 3D in assenza di occhiali, tradotta in GIF animate che si mostrano e si lasciano guardare guidando l’occhio verso il miglior punto di osservazione.
Questa ricerca di profondità non avviene solo nello spazio delle sue opere, ma si sviluppa anche su diversi livelli di coscienza emotiva e solo nella condivisione e comunicazione con l’altro trova la sua più pura espressione.
