On March 9th, at the MEET Digital Culture Center in Milan, artists duo Hackatao, curator Eleonora Brizi and the law firm Piselli and Partners presented the conclusion of REMIX ME art project, together with over 40 artists featured in the drop on the NFT platform Makersplace.
Considering that the “remix art” phenomenon has been long-standing in art history, REMIX ME invites the Cryptoart creative community to explore the meaning and implications of remixing a work of art, while investigating it in its manifestation in the world of NFTs and their relationship to copyrights.
The MEET also participated in the “remix” with a geo-localized augmented reality game inside and outside the building through the Illust.ar app.
For the treasure hunt, we created a map designed by Hackatao. During the week preceding the event, we divided the map in three parts and gave out hints for people to understand the geolocation of the artworks.
Here is the three hints, to compose the map and discover where all the artworks of the project REMIX ME were geolocated:
𝟏. 𝑨 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓. 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅, 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍. 𝑺𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆. 𝑮𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒓 “𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒓”.

Other than the game, a night of debate was hosted in the theater of the MEET.

Remix of Remixes #4 – Omnibus, by Hackatao, is the evidence that harmony results from different chaos, that beauty is beauty from multiple perspectives, and that many truths manifesting through diverse eyes can, however, still be called the truth.
This is a snapshot of the fourth remix of remixes, that crystallizes the look of the dynamic token in this precise moment until the next change, or maybe forever.
A total of 43 artists participated in the REMIX ME art project and are now (re)mixed together, each contributing to the final unique creation by Hackatao with the music by MaterManto.
A confirmation of what we stated at the beginning of this adventure, of what Web3 is about: art, community, today, more than ever. And that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”
Hackatao, REMIX OF REMIXES #4 – OMNIBUS (detail), 2023
Here is how artists duo Hackatao explained this final work:
“In the creation of Remix Me #4 – Omnibus, where we remixed all 44 artworks of the 43 artists who took part in the project, the challenge was to find a critical point of balance between order and chaos. A work of identifying the detail that could form a harmonious whole, respecting the original meaning of the work, but with that touch of madness to which the act of remixing pushes.
As far as aesthetics are concerned, we have actually stepped out of our comfort zone, going beyond our style of flat colors and drawn flow. With REMIX ME, we questioned ourselves and let ourselves be hacked through the other works. The final meaning of Remix Me #4 – Omnibus is precisely to hack what has already been hacked (remix), to explore a new aesthetic space, the result of what technology makes possible”.
